「美國著名導演、編劇、製片約翰休斯(John Hughes)６日在曼哈頓散步時，因心臟病突發去世，享年59歲。他執導YA經典電影《早餐俱樂部》捧紅茉莉林瓦德等人，茉莉哀傷道：「不敢相信他走了，他已是我人生中很重要的一部分。」童星麥考利克金主演的《小鬼當家》系列也出自他之手。 」
80年代他真的執導、編寫出許多好經典的YA片《少女十五十六時 Sixteen Candles》、《紅粉佳人 Pretty in Pink》《蹺課天才 Ferris Bueller's Day Off》、《早餐俱樂部 The Breakfast Club》，還有後來《小鬼當家》、《家有貝多芬》系列、《女傭變鳳凰》…
其實對他很多早期的電影也是後來在HBO看的，當時他的作品正紅的當時，自己才剛上幼稚園吧…^^"…知道他的電影，真的是從後來的《小鬼當家》開始…然後才慢慢看回去他以前的作品。印象最深的，就是《早餐俱樂部》了，就算過了十幾年再看，還是覺得能跟裡面的主角所遇到的問題產生共鳴。John Hughes在當時也捧紅許多青春明星，尤其是在《早餐俱樂部》裡面飾演富家女的Molly Ringwald，曾被MTV音樂台選為"百大名人小時候"的第一名，而她在《早餐俱樂部》之前，就以《少女十五十六時》走紅，成為少男的夢中情人，而後來的《紅粉佳人》更將她堆上高峰。
在2005年的MTV Move Award典禮上，頒了特別獎給《早餐俱樂部》，並由樂團Yellowcard重新演唱主題曲"Don't You Forget About Me"，其中的三位主角，Ally Sheedy和Molly Ringwald沒有什麼變，但常在John Hughes的片飾演書呆子的Anthony Michael Hall變超多…在片中演很機車的那位校長(Paul Gleason)也有去，不過他在2006年也因病過世。
